To be a bit more specific, I've pretty much finished the
Paia Theremax that
infowidget got me, uh..., some time ago.
It seems to power up when I flip on the power, and I was able to get it to make some sounds while trying to tune it. Unfortunately, the high pitches were getting to
infowidget (a common problem with heterodyning oscillators), so I had to call it a night. I'll get back to it Saturday while she's at work. The plan is to have it done before Monday, so I can make some spooktacular sounds for the neighborhood!
It's kinda nice to build a kit and have it actually work. My previous attempts have been somewhat mixed. My first musical kit was the Midwest Analog Products (who seem to be out of business now) ADV-BASS bass drum synthesizer. That worked pretty well, and it was rather cool triggering it with the DR-110 which I later sold to
evilmonk (do you still have it? I'll buy it back if you don't want it anymore...)
After that success, I moved on to MAP's Classic Snare+, and their MTS-100 MIDI-CV converter. The Snare+ kinda barely worked, and I couldn't get the MTS-100 to do anything really. That kinda made me a little gunshy about DIY-type electronics projects for a while.
Once I get this all finished up and working, I'm thinking about building a
Sound Lab Mini-synth.
