The Fyreborn Islands, Kaeleer (Second Full Day of Kaeleer)

Apr 03, 2010 19:16

The Fyreborn Islands were a small archipelago in the southwest of Kaeleer. The islands themselves were covered in a thick and scrubby forest, with plenty of fruit-bearing bushes covering the forest floor. People who had taken a trip through Karla’s memories via the Cultural Fair might recognize the round, green berries that hung from the thorny branches. Where there wasn’t forest, there were high cliffs and rock formations, looking almost like stone lace, connecting the island chain together.

In these stone cliffs, the dragons made their aeries.

These dragons were not the great dragons of Karla’s myths. Instead, most of them were horse-sized-discounting wings and tails-with the eldest Queens and Warlord Princes about the size of small cars. They were many colors, mostly browns and reds, like the cliff face where they made their home, with the males shading towards the greens and blues of the water around their islands. The dragons were a happy and playful lot; when the Coach dropped off the Fandom students onto the beach on the main island, they could see dragons leisurely winging their way through the sky, nesting in the caves in the cliffs, splashing through the water, and sunning themselves while chomping on those berries.

Lucivar launched himself into the air with a happy shout, and a number of dragons bounded over towards Jaenelle, butting her arms and legs until she laughingly gave them hugs.

Karla turned towards her friends with a large smile. “Welcome to the Fyreborn Islands,” she said. “I hope you all packed your suits.”
