App Test-Log: Rot Lop Fan

Jul 20, 2008 14:32

Rot Lop Fan was not pleased with his progress. The hyperdrive units on this starliner were slightly out-of-tune and the dissonance was just irritating enough to be interfering with his efforts. He wanted to give his friend something that would last the ages, a fitting tribute to the Ringer who had shown him the F Sharp Bell and the wonders it could ( Read more... )

He's here to guard the sector, scout it, make sure there's no extra problems. He's also here to examine some very real fear. This was Kat's sector. His trainer's sector...His wife's sector. All the Lanterns that have come back from the supposedly dead. Kat isn't one of them, and he's guilty that he's relieved for that. The guilt and relief have thrown his game off. He can't nail down why both have the pull they do.

He can't stay in the starliner - there's too much danger to the others. So after patching himself and the liner itself up to the best of his ability, Rot Lop Fan cruised the silence of space alone, a basic tune protecting himself from the emptiness of space and providing propulsion.

Thank God for chaos sometimes. Otherwise, he'd become some damn emo kid. There's a flash of green way in the distance - and his ring resonates with the sound of a clear, sharp bell ring. "John Stewart of Sector 2814. Do you require assistance?"

"Negative." he said via his ring. "There is a starliner here that was damaged in an assault but I believe the damage patched enough to hold until they make dock." he sent along. "Thanagaran bandits made an attempt at one of the passengers."

"Are they injured? Koragar has superior medical facilities." Sometimes the reminder is handy. You can get so involved in your work that you forget the little things.

"Negative." he sent. "No injuries." he sent, then paused for a few moments. "Why are you here, so far from your assigned sector?" he asked, perhaps a little more sharply than he should have.

"Wild guess, Fan." That was sharper then he meant to. "Thinking.."

"Contemplating the enormity of your errors?" he hazarded a guess. Human psychology was hardly his specialty, even if he had taken an interest in it after the Bellbreaker nearly destroyed the Corps.

Between Diana and Katma, he's had just about enough people judging his personal life. They can get on his case as much as they want about anything connected to Fatality, but this - no. Even if Fan was a student of Katma's, he just not in the mood for it.

Fan paused for a minute. He wasn't positive but an aburpt end to a conversation like that was usually a sign of disharmony in humans.

"Is this how you honor your teacher?" he sent to his ring. "With disharmony?"

He's pushing. John's not sure if it's welcome or not. "No," he answers. "I honor my wife and the nature of the Corp by thinking about her while I look at her homeworld. I'm here to see the good." He's tempted to say, Help, or get off the line, but that wouldn't be what Kat would have wanted to say.
