So far, I have it dual booting from a drive with WinXP and a drive with ubuntu. I've also configured my dual monitor system to work properly with X. I'm going to document how I did it because the lack of documentation/misleading information/ambiguous instructions on this issue is substantial. The next thing to do is to replicate all of the functions of my old OS to make sure I can do all of the work-type stuff I attempt to pull off. :)
Mostly it's just a matter of making sure I know where to find things and get the preferences set the way I want.
I use a lot of open-source stuff anyway but I'm working on getting GIMP to work the way I want it to. I haven't looked too deep into the community that makes add-ons or whatever yet but I think I'll be able to get it to do what I need. It has a few little features that I really appreciate but it's not at all comfy just yet.
I'll be posting some screen captures of my new Barbarella wallpaper later on. I decided to stop naming my computers after LucasFilm entities. I've grown up and now I'm naming them after Science Fiction hotties. ;)
