SCA Stuff and Crafty Crap - FREE IS FOR ME!

Another trip to the Crappy Thrift Store yeilds gold!

I got a few white leather right-handed gloves for *free*!! So I can mess around with the Queen's Order of Courtesy pattern and see what fabulousness I can come up with. I seriously want to do the flower in eeny weeny beads - I think that would be *so* pretty. I'll probably only do one like that, especially if it is as time-consuming and pain-in-the-ass as eeny weeny beads are wont to be. But I gotta - it's been preying on my mind since Birka. The others will give me an opportunity to sharpen up my embroidery skills.

Now I have to fish around on the SCA websites for the pattern, unless one of my AWESOME SCA people already has the site and wants to point me there ... that would be even cooler.

Also, I got another $1.00 coat - it's a 50's coat in a rough weave, natural wool, and with a little altering it will look just like the Viking caftans I've seen! I might have to do some embroidery or applique work to it because it's got a few stains, but it's definitely worth the work.

And then! I got a beautiful, hand woven grey and purple scarf - $0.25. I think it's a light wool, but I may have to do a burn test to figure it out. Anyway, if I can stand to take it out of scarf form, it would make a great Viking cap. I realize that the caps were usually white or natural wool or linen, but guess who doesn't care? As a scarf, it matches the Giant Muppet Coat really well, but I need a cap for cold weather events. And if I made a cap, I could cut the rest up into trim and trim out the caftan with it. So I'm truly torn.

Any suggestions?
