Chapter 6

Jack pushed open the wooden door to the master suite. He had grown the trees himself once he realized that he was going to need a home to bring Ianto to.

The moonlight shone directly on the object of his affections. Ianto hadn’t changed at all from his memories or from the picture he always carried near his heart.

In the middle of the large four-poster bed Ianto was still sleeping. He walked over and turned on the old-fashioned lamp. It had taken him a lot of money and much of his time to gather objects that he knew would make Ianto feel at home. He even had a few made, and while not completely authentic they at least looked like the belonged in the old manor home. He wanted to give Ianto the home his young lover deserved. It was amazing how hard it was to find someone who could make doors the way they did in the 21st century. Never mind, lights that needed switches and a bathroom that didn’t wipe your own ass.

He carefully undressed Ianto out of a suit that had obviously seen better days. He had Ianto down to his briefs and decided he had better stop there. He may have lived a very long time but he still was only human, and a naked Ianto Jones was one thing that could temp any saints.

The sight of Ianto tucked in, under red silk sheets made Jack’s heart race. It was something he never thought he would see again.

He pulled back the blanket, trying to decide if he should join him or not.  “Sorry,” he said, when the cool air struck Ianto and made him squirm.

“Jack?”

“Yeah, it’s me.”

“Are you coming to bed?”

“Do you want me too?” Jack held his breath. He had dreamed of this for as long as he could remember. From the minute he left earth’s gravity he had been trying to figure out a way to get Ianto back into his arms. He had spent the last hundreds of years finalizing his plans on how he would get Ianto here, but there was also the planning that had gone into the house. It had all given him a purpose when all he wanted to do was find a small corner of the universe and die, over and over again.

“Of course, I want you too.  I’m cold. Need you to warm up my feet.”

Jack laughed. It was a fight they often had. Ianto had to coldest feet in the universe, he would always tell him in the middle of the night. But right now all he wanted to do was have those freezing feet next to his. He quickly removed his boots and hung up his long coat. It was no longer his old army coat. Without Ianto around to mend it for him, or to find him a new one it had fallen apart shortly after he left earth.  He missed his coat but not anywhere as much as he missed Ianto.

“Is something wrong?” Ianto asked, lifting his head up from the red pillow. He looked like a sleepy little boy, stretching out some kinks.

“Not a thing. Why do you ask?”

“Well, for one thing, you are still dressed, and two, I’m sitting here alone in a bed without you molesting me.”

“You aren’t feeling well,” Jack reminded him. As much as he wanted nothing more than to climb in there and make love to Ianto he wasn’t sure if he should. Should he be honest about which Jack he was, or just lie and take what he wanted?

“When has that ever stopped you before?” Ianto asked. He flipped back the duvet, seeming to welcome Jack.  “What are you waiting for?”

Jack flipped the blankets back. He sat down on the edge of the bed. He ran a hand through Ianto’s thick black hair. It felt softer than he remembered. But after a couple of thousand years how could he not expect a few memories to be fuzzy.

“You know that there is more to us than just sex for me, right?”

From the shocked look in those bright blue eyes Jack knew than answer.

“I thought I was awake but maybe I’m not,” Ianto mumbled, flopping back down onto the bed.

Jack laid down on the blankets, next to the man who had once been his lover. The only man he could remember ever loving.

“You’re awake,” Jack said.

“Still feels like a dream.”

“Because I told you I care about you?”

Ianto’s blue eyes shone with confusion. “Jack, what the hell is going on?”

“What do you remember?”

He could feel Ianto shiver. “We were roll playing. Although you didn’t give me much of a chance to get into character. You didn’t pick the best time.”

“What do you mean?”

“We were weevil hunting. I know it gets you all hot and bothered when we go out but we weren’t alone. Owen and Tosh could have shown up any minute. Not that I’m ashamed of what we do together but I’d rather not give Owen any more ammunition to use against me than he already has.”

Jack leaned against the headboard. “Sorry about that, it just seemed like the right time.” He had told 14 than anytime between 2007 and 2009 was a good time to gather Ianto up. He should probably have gotten the exact date before he retconned himself.

Ianto laughed. It was a sound that made Jack’s heart swell. Ianto wasn’t one for gregarious outbursts but if something struck him as amusing he would let you know. “Jack, I’ve never known a time that isn’t right for you when it comes to sex.”

“Just the same,” Jack said pulling Ianto into his embrace. “I still want you to know that my feelings for you are more than just skin deep.”

“I know they are.”

“You do?”

“Of course, you care about your team. That’s the way you are.”

“You’re right, I cared about them all but you’re the only one I think about every moment of the day.”

Ianto pulled away. “All right, who the hell are you, because I sure as hell know you aren’t my Jack.”

Jack ducked too late. The last thing he saw was the fist of an angry Welshman heading for him before the room went dark.
