You can want people to be there to support you and your issues (esp. if you are there for theirs), but when they consistently do not reciprocate - Maybe it's time to redefine things. You don't have to dis people or say you aren't friends any more, but maybe pull back on expecting things/trying so hard. You can't stop a person from being selfish, however when you aren't there as much for them (to protect your feelings, not to "punish" them, per se), eventually they might start to think about why that might be.
