Life is getting me down.

Right now I have a lot of stuff going on - exams and whatnot - but each day I want to find 20 minutes to meditate and 40 minutes to compose. Right now I'm working on a string quartet. My goal is to have it be at least a little bit tuneful and have it something I can be proud of. I don't expect to be Beethoven on the first (or any) go, being that I have no formal compositional training, but I know enough theory to get some stuff down on paper.

It's weird how often I have found answers to my questions by being introspective. My experience is that we know a lot more than we consciously acknowledge about ourselves and our situations, and it's our job to dig up the information we want or need to improve our lives. Right now I have a lot of questions that need answered, and so I'm hoping to find some time for the sort of introspection that has solved a lot of problems for me in the past.

When I finish a movement of the quartet I'll put it on Netfiles and make it available to the world.
