So it's that day. I still refuse to formally address it, I hated it for so long I'm not going to turn into a hypocrite. This year a lot of venom has been removed from the day itself, however. To all my single brothers and sisters out there, don't let this wretched day get under your skin or poison your mind. It really is just another day, don't let Hallmark, or the flower, candy, or diamond industry fool you. The only love they know anything about is the love of money.
To my brothers and sisters who do have a special someone in thier lives, please remember the lonely and broken-hearted around you. Remember that they need love too. Try not to dial up the mushy shit in thier presence, to talk about how wonderful your S.O. is for whatever trivial gift or gesture they perform for you today is. I don't mean for that to sound malicious, it's not. I say trivial because if they are wonderful, then they'll be wonderful to you constantly, and will show it in little wonderful little ways year round. Ways which will seem trivial to any one but you and your special someone. It's meant to be special for just the two of you, rest of the world be damned.
You wanna make this day about love? Then love all those around you. Why should a large percentage of the populace be made to feel shitty on what's supposed to a day about "the celebration of love"?
