I haven't written here lately because I've been very busy at work, and taking care of some real life stuff that came up. As they say, "stuff happens".
I did however get to travel out to Pittsburgh last weekend to work
Confluence with the Dorsai Irregulars. It was a smallish science fiction con, with about 300 people in attendance. The shifts

Marty Coady Fabish, John Hall, and James Walton were also there; I'm not sure whether James was working as a DI, though.
The highlight of the con was a play that is put on no Saturday evening. A different script is written every year, usually involving parody of current events. This year's play was called "The Doctor's Sarcophagus". I did not get to watch it, as I had roving duty at the time. :-)
Couple of minor corrections, as the director of said play:
Yes, a different script is written every year, but it's never about current events. It's usually a musical travesty that uses a joked-up science fiction story and filked-up Broadway or pop tunes. For example:
- 2005: "Dune, the Soft Rock Musical" ("Dune" to the music of AM radio)
- 2006: "Guards and Dragons" (Terry Pratchett's "Guards! Guards!" to the music from "Guys and Dolls"); and
- 2007: "Grease Wars" ("Star Wars" to the music of "Grease," from the medley by Luke Ski)
For this year, we originally wrote "The Girl in the Firefly" ("Firefly"/"Serenity" and "The Girl in the Fireplace" episode of the new "Dr. Who" to the music of "Annie Get Your Gun"), but we held auditions and nobody showed up, so we didn't have a big enough cast to stage it. That being the case, SF author James Morrow graciously allowed us to perform the horror-host homage he wrote, "Come Back, Dr. Sarcophagus" (which is the correct title, BTW).
Glad if you liked the con. It's always good to have you and Kage here!
