Fic: Card Captor Sakura (Heh. Old-school.)

May 02, 2005 21:15

This was supposed to be an entry for the Mood Vignette challenge in temps_mort, but I just did it this morning and it's already too late to post it there.

One of my problems, I think, is that my brain acts very much like a diesel engine. When an idea occurs to me, it occurs slower than molasses, and I never write it down in the heat of the moment, and I end up procrastinatingmulling over the inspiration longer than necessary. Usually, I end up being late for challenges. >_<;;; That sucks so hard.

Anyway, here it is:

Title: Celebration
Series: Card Captor Sakura
Word Count: 418
Summary: They only do this sometimes.

Everybody in the room seems to wobble from this direction, and Yukito swallows an oncoming giggle before leaving the kitchen and joining them.

He walks in a deliberate straight line, faltering only when people distract him with small talk. Conversation topics wash over him like water--from mundane things about school to the quality of the food--and he's beginning to wonder what sort of comments he's been giving their houseguests so far. Cocktails have a penchant for loosening his tongue, and people are already giving him highly amused looks.

December 24th and it's his Christmas-cum-birthday party, celebrated with their friends from the university and some of Touya's co-workers from his part-time jobs. They do this mostly from Yukito's persuasion, to dispel the myth that they're both notorious recluses. Not that they invite a lot people anyway--a crowd of more than ten cannot possibly fit in their apartment, and a student's budget can only get you so far.

They do this a day early because it'll be dinner at the Kinomoto house the day after. Yukito is excited about this but right now, he's having trouble pronouncing some words.

His eyes scan the room for Touya and easily enough, Yukito finds him. He wryly raises the glass he's holding, a silent way of saying he needs to be rescued. Touya rolls his eyes but he nods goodbye at the people he's talking to and moves to his direction. Touya always has a funny effect on him.

Funny because people to talk too loud and move way too fast when he's in this state, but they always fade away when Touya saunters towards him like this.

He stays by Yukito's side until the people begin to this out. Finally, all the guests are gone and Touya sighs out loud and declares his relief at never having to socialize again until next year. With that, he kisses Touya's ear and Touya laughs and comments about closely monitoring his margarita intake from now on but it's okay because they only do this sometimes, and they always end the night this way. Slumped together in the couch amidst the dirty glasses and plates, some of the buzz already receding, but still content.

Tomorrow, he'll wake up with a slight headache. A train ride to Tomoeda, where they'll be fed within an inch of their lives. There's much catching up to do with the lives of those they care about. But right now, it's just him and Touya, and the fuzzy lights.

If you're clueless about the mood I was trying to go for, it was "drunk". Because that was exactly my state of mind last Saturday. ^_^;;
