So I haven't been able to obtain a job that is worthwhile even after getting a degree. As for the past couple of days I have been substitute teaching. The first day I sat with a bunch of kindergarten children...I was told by another teacher that it is necessary to be stern with the children. The second day I was with high school students. Sadly enough I was told the same thing by the principals secretary...to be stern with them. So when does the growing up happen? I found an extreme lack of integrity among 50% of the high school students, whom I must say weren't much better than kindergarten kiddos. Options for any sort of disciplinary action is very limited in the school system, all I had the power to do was write a note to the regular teacher or to use referral slips sparingly...but if it really got out of hand I could call the office. WHAT THE FUCK? It's not completely the student's fault though, the school system certainly fosters students to behave in that manner. I found that they have to take a lot of bullshit courses which are entirely unfair to the student and there are very lame rules (like every time a student enters the hallway during class time they are required to carry a bright safety vest), but this does not undermine the fact that a certain amount of respect should be given even to strangers. Eh. Eh. EEEEEEeh. I don't think I have the patience to stick with this sort of job for much longer. I'd rather scrub toilets.
