A shame that obvious untruth concerning our leaving Discedo could not have been the opposite. I think we all tire of the endless nonsense.

Though it seems the most common thing anyone can bother to discuss are the coming and going of individuals here. Why not spend the time we have so much of finding our own way out? Waiting till ( Read more... )

[Just laughs.]

If they want people to settle they should probably stop dragging in pirates and rebellious people like you, eh?

It would serve them better if they didn't. Too many of us and they will have an uprising on their hands.

... why there isn't one already amazes me.

Probably because an "uprising" would merely amount to be disseminated and then brought back to life with little chips inside of us.

In other words; not only pointless and painful, but probably just make them more hostile and feel the need to punish.

You people let this fear of these chips and what they can and can't do hold you back. They don't even need to do anything and you all would sit here, just sit on your hands and wait for your time to leave.

Wouldn't you?

Better to try than do nothing. And if they retaliate, that is only part of a rebellion. One must fight to win what they want, sitting on the sidelines because of ifs and buts is a cowards way.

I don't want to leave.

I've fought for many reasons, but I would thank the scientists, not fight them.

Ahhh... so you are one of those people.

Then stay and be the dog of the Scientists. And when the time comes that those who tire of this place turn against the city, you are free to stand in the way, and be destroyed for it.

Don't misunderstand me, I've only ever worked for one man in my life, and I proudly bear his emblem on my chest. No one else can earn that kind of loyalty from me.

However there's an important man here with no place left to go. Accidental kindness or not, it means a great deal to me.

Rebel against nothing if you so desire, but I don't think yelling at the tide will make it change its tone.

[Heh, all your sentimental dribble means nothing to him, Marco. Sorry.]

Yelling accomplishes nothing, I am hardly stupid. Finding a bigger tide to go against it, that, that is what one must do.

Right.

And you think people who are capable of dragging dead people from other worlds and time periods and putting them here back to life, are going to be dumb enough to drag in more than that which they can handle or deal with?

[Marco just doesn't think like a marine, he thinks like a criminal. So he knows if he was going to kidnap large numbers of people for his personal amusement, what he would do. Especially since this isn't a terribly far reach for him.]

Having skills or the capabilities to do things does not make one impervious to stupidity. Everyone is capable of it, and many fall victim to it.

Do you not think these people who play as gods would not think they're too safe? Think we could never find them, think we are so pliable with the gifts and toys they give us? They may not be, but then again, they might be.

I see no reason not to abuse this.

Seeing as I've known people in my world strong enough to think they're gods, no, I don't think operating under the assumption that they'd make a mistake in your favor will get you anywhere.

By all means, don't give up hope, but assuming them to be foolish simply because they are strong would be twice as foolish on your part.

I will not rely on it, but I will keep an eye out for any opportunities. Assumptions get one in over their head, I'm not that foolish.

Hmph, hope. So that is what people here grasp on while they sit on their hands waiting to be sent home.

So glad to hear it.

Hah, hardly. I have no intentions of going home yet.

Then stay.

I care not if you or others rot here. But I will not stand for this place any longer than I must.
