When the cherry tree started to blossom I took my daughter outside and held her up and said see those white things starting to come out of the branches? That is POPCORN! Soon the whole tree will be covered in it and then we can harvest it and sprinkle it with salt. Every day for weeks she ran outside in the morning to see how the popcorn was coming along, she was so excited. She couldn't WAIT till it was ready. Imagine my surprise when her kindergarten teacher mentioned how she got up in front of the class at show and tell with a cherry tree branch and told them about our magical tree.

And when she asked why she didn't have a sister or brother I told her, but you DO have a sister. Jemma (that dog) is your sister! She was so pleased. And when the kids all got up one by one to tell the class about themselves, she happily told them that she had a little sister and she was black and hairy and had bad breath. I heard about that one from the teacher, too.
