We had tickets for Heart! It was pretty much the first concert I'd been to that wasn't Weird Al, and it was certainly a different show.
Ann and Nancy rock the heck out of everything, and when you consider their ages, it astounds even more. They played two Zepplin songs and one by The Who (M had to point them out to me, because I'm hopeless with telling the difference between acid rock songs, even though I really enjoy them). Nancy does this little box step kick thing that is so cute!
I'm pretty sure M and I were the straightest ones there. A pair of lesbians in front of us were rather drunk and kept trying to talk to us (which is impossible when you are IN THE 6th ROW!! WO0T!) and one accidently grazed by boob. It seemed like a fair prices. So I was a poser because I'm not gay, but I felt like a poser even more because I didn't know I was a Heart fan prior to tonight. I figured they had a few songs I knew I liked, but not, like every song they played. I suppose when your career spans over 30 years, you are bound to have plenty of hits!
We were treated to a special guest: the bass player from Alice in Chains came on for one song. Apparently M's mom's boyfriends brother used to play bass for Alice in Chains until this guy came along--so we are tangentially only four degrees of separation from a celebrity.
My fav songs they did were probably "What About Love", "Magic Man" and the guitar from "Barracuda". Oh, and I think the world needs more electric mandolin!
The crowd was strangely intoxicated. Especially sitting up in front with the members from the fan club (that's how we scored such awesome seats). I can't believe the kind of power that the band puts out, and the crowd just reflects it right back. It's a big love fest, really. And it must be said that Ann had this great outfit with a huge peacock feather, and worked the crowd like a Priestess. I think she's absolutely beautiful. It was a wonderful experience. And as soon as my ears stop thumping, I can go to bed.
magick,
