The crescent moon on the forehead like Bella, E'bet and Sydney have. Yes I realize it is from a work of fiction. But to me and many others it symbolizes one's lifelong work for the religion. It's the sign of clergy and Priestesshood.
Let's look at symbolism. When Catholics go through seminary, they wear the collar. It is black with a white tab. To me, that symbolises how they have their permanent connection with God and their responsibility as priests. It is on the throat, and there is no denying that Christianity is about the Word. The black and tab limits what can come through.
For Pagans, we don't have a standard way of showing ordained clergy, and I as asking myself what that would or should look like. Ours is a religion that loves the body, so it makes sense to me that a mark of priestesshood should be written on the body. What chakra is best activated? Perhaps something between the third eye and the crown. It is visible, but I suppose some strong bangs could hide it well enough. In many Wiccan traditions, the crescent moon is what is on the crown when the Priestess Draws Down the Moon, so the tattoo is sort of a permanent invocation. And when you talk to Bella, she describes herself as in constant connection with the Gods.
So, yeah, it's something I want. When I've earned it. Is that bad?
