Summary: True love is the best feeling in the world. It's surprising that something so pure and good can cause so much pain. I thought we'd be together forever as cliche as it may sound. But there were other plans and you were taken away from me. The days keep on passing and the pain is still here, slowly eating away at me. It hurts to look at him sometimes because he's the last thing I have of you. I told myself that I'd never fall in love again. That no one could compare to you. My heart belongs to just you. I don't know when it happened though, but I think I might be falling in love with someone else. I feel like I'm betraying you. I'm sorry, could you ever forgive me?
I loved you, I really did. I never knew I was nothing to you, but a substitute to your ex-girlfriend. It hurt me, but I guess I have to let you, let you find another true love so that you can truly be happy. I will never forget the way we met, how sweet you once were to me. I loved you, I still do now. But sometimes, you've to let go of someone you really love, so that he experience the true love you're experiencing while you're with him.
A/N: So here's the beginning of my collab project. I'll be writing in Minho's POV and Sica will be writing in Taemin's. As for the summary, the first part is Minho's POV and the second part is Taemin's. I know it may be confusing. Sorry. Let us know what you think though! PLEASE COMMENT!!! And don't worry I'll be updating Paper Roses later today as well. ;)
CHAPTER ONE
MINHO POV
I look at the calendar on my wall. It’s been exactly one year now and things still weren’t getting any better. I had the same nightmare I’ve been having since that day and it always ends the same. It always ends in that horrible crash. The crash that took you away from me. The crash that took you away from our son.
I make my way over to his crib and he’s already standing up with his arms held out to me, “Good morning Chungie. Did you sleep well last night?” I say to him as I lift him out of his crib. I walk over to my bathroom to start getting us ready for the day.
Today was going to be both of our first days at a new school. My parents decided to move us at the beginning of summer in hopes of getting me out of my depression. So far, it hasn’t helped. I was still in the same state I was back in our home town. If anything, I was probably worst off now.
I spent most of the summer in the house or at the playground nearby. I made no attempts in making friends with anyone that was the same age as me. As far as I was concerned, all I needed was my son. My parents even tried to get me to go with them to our neighbor’s house that they had become fast friends with. They said they had a son about a year older than me. I think his name was Jinki or something like that. I refused though. Telling them that I’d stay home with Chunghee instead. And that’s how it went every time we were invited over for dinner and when my parents would come back they’d try to make me feel guilty about not going. It never worked.
“Minho!” I hear my mom call from downstairs, “Are you awake?”
“Ne!” I say, toothbrush still in my mouth. I move my head to the side when Chunghee makes a grab for it, “No no. Let appa finish first and then we’ll brush your teeth after okay?”
It takes me a little over half and hour to get both of us ready. I started to make it a point to have both of our clothes set out the night before since it seems to take off a good amount of time in the morning. Chunghee has never been a patient baby. So sifting through clothes early in the morning with a squirming baby isn’t the easiest thing to do. I made sure his baby bag was ready and packed last night as well. I didn’t want to be running late on our first day. Not like it really mattered, but it made things easier for me and my parents when the mornings went smoothly and we weren’t running around like chickens with our heads cut off.
“Come on Chungie. Let’s go downstairs now,” I hold out my hand for him as I stand by the door, “Grab Mickey.”
I watch as my son grabs his favorite stuffed doll and wobbles over to me. He’s been walking for quite some time now, but he still wasn’t steady on his feet. The doctor said it was because he was growing too fast to be able to adjust properly. He was 18 months old now, but was the size of a two year old. I smile when I feel his chubby fingers wrap around one of mine. We start to slowly make our way to the stairs, once we reach them, I pick him up and carry him the rest of the way. I place his baby bag and my backpack on the couch before going to the kitchen.
“Morning umma,” I lean in and kiss her cheek.
“Morning and how are my babies doing today?” she smiles and pinches Chunghee’s cheek, “Ready for your first day at school? You’re going to make a lot of new friends right?”
I know that she’s asking that last question more to me than to the baby in my arms even though she’s staring right at him, “Say yes to halmeoni Chungie. You’re going to have fun today and play with your new friends hm?”
“And what about you Minho?”
“I’ll be fine umma. Don’t worry about me.”
“I can’t help it. You haven’t been the same since that day. And it’s been over a year now.”
“One year.”
“What?”
“It’s only been one year. Today marks one year.”
“Minho,” she caresses my cheek lovingly.
“I’ll be fine umma. What’s for breakfast?”
She let’s out a sigh, knowing not to push things further, “Pancakes. Go and take a seat at the table and I’ll bring you both some.”
“Okay. Come on Chungie. Do you want pancakes for breakfast?”
“Ne appa,” he smiles up at me.
“Are you hungry?”
“Ne.”
“Do you love appa?”
“Ne.”
“Appa ppoppo?” and I pucker my lips. It takes a second before he kisses me and gives me a big hug, “Aw. Thank you Chungie. Appa loves you very much.”
“Where’s umma?” my heart breaks when he asks this and I have no idea what to say to him. He asks this at least ten times every day and every time I never know the right thing to say.
“She’s sleeping.”
“Umma wake up?”
“Later. Let’s get you in your high chair now,” I set him down in the chair and place the tray in front of him, “Don’t ruin your clothes okay?”
“Ne.”
*~*
I’m about five minutes late to school even though I left early. It took longer than I thought it would at the daycare. Chunghee wouldn’t let go of me and wouldn’t stop crying. I did everything I could think of to calm him down, but nothing worked. I ended up having to sit and play with him for ten minutes before the tears finally stopped falling. The teacher eventually distracted him with some toy so I could sneak out.
“You’re late,” the teacher says to me, eyes never leaving what he was writing on the board.
“I’m sorry. It won’t happen again,” I say to him as I walk over and hand him the slip I got from the office.
“So you’re the new student?”
“Yes sir.”
“Name?”
“Choi Minho.”
“No, introduce yourself to the class,” he motions behind him.
“Do I have to?”
“Yes.”
“Okay,” I turn to face the group of students in front of me. I felt a little nervous because I felt eyes on me before I even looked at them, “Hi. I’m Choi Minho. I’m new here.”
I receive a few nods, but most of them seem to turn away uninterested. That was fine with me. I didn’t want attention anyways. I never liked being in the spot light. I turn back to my teacher.
“Excuse me.”
“You’re still standing here?”
“Um, yes. I just have to talk to you about something. I’m not sure if the people in the office told you about it.”
“What is it?” he turns to look at me, clearly very annoyed.
“I need to keep my phone on at all times. It’ll just be on vibrate, but I need it with me.”
“Well I’m sorry to tell you I have a strict no cell phone policy in my class. They are to be off the moment you step foot in my class.”
“I know, but I have a valid reason.”
“They all do.”
“I really do.”
“Sure. Whatever you say. Now please go and take a seat.”
“Sir, I really do have a good reason. If you would just hear me out.”
“Fine, what is it?” I know that he’s only humoring me so that I will finally take a seat. But I need to tell him.
“I have a son. He’s just over a year old. I need my phone on me just in case something happens at daycare,” I keep my voice low, just so my teacher can hear it. The last thing I want is for everyone to know my business.
He gives me a skeptical look and then I remember I still have a copy of the registration papers for the daycare in my bag. I pull it out and hand it to my teacher. He looks over it before handing it back to me.
“Fine, but make sure it’s on vibrate. If it goes off in my class, I won’t let you have it at all.”
“Yes sir. Thank you.”
“Now take a seat.”
I turn around and scan the room. I finally see an empty chair towards the back and make my way towards it. I take a seat and pull out my notebook and pencil case from my bag.
“Hi, I’m Lee Taemin,” the boy in front of me turns around and smiles as he holds out his hand.
“Still Choi Minho, like I said earlier,” I tell him, not bothering to shake his hand. I just turn my attention to the board and start to copy what was on it. I see him give me a slight frown before turning back around in his seat.
TAEMIN POV
"Young master Lee, it's time to wake up," I hear someone knocking on the door. I picked a pillow on my side and cover it over my ears, hoping to block out all the noises.
"Young master Lee, Mrs. Lee wants you down for breakfast now," now, the owner of the sound is coming nearer. It's my nanny. Well, I'm eighteen years old now and I don't need any nanny, but she had been with me since I was one, so she's like our family now. I love her so much, that I address her as 'umma Jung'.
"Urgh, umma Jung. Let me sleep for fifteen more minutes please," I whined and pouted as I used the pillow to cover my face now.
"Young master, if you continue to snuggle in bed, you're going to be late for school," she says.
"Urgh!" I pouted and sat up straight. "Okay okay I will wake up now. But umma Jung, will you stop addressing me as young master Lee?"
She gave me a motherly smile which I've gotten used to. "I've to respect you, young master.”
"Call me Taemin will do!" I say as I climbed out of bed and walked towards my bathroom to get ready.
I took a quick shower and left the bathroom. I then saw 2 maids in my room taking my uniform out.
"Good morning young master Lee. Here's your uniform," one of them bowed and said.
"Good morning and thank you!" I bowed back and smiled. " Have you girls had your breakfast?" I asked.
"No, young master."
"Well, go get them now! Or else I'm gonna finish all of them!" I said cheekily.
They giggled and bowed again. "We'll be off now sir," they said and left them room.
I changed into my uniform and styled my hair before going down for dinner and to meet my real umma.
"Umma!" I ran towards her and kissed her forehead.
"Good morning Minnie," she smiled. I flinched at the way she called me Minnie. I hated it.
"Urgh umma. You know I hate it the most when people calls me Minnie. It's so girly!" I said as I sat down beside her on the dining table.
"Well, but that's your name," she says as she places a pancake on my plate.
"My name is Taemin!" I exclaim as I cut the pancakes into pieces before stuffing them into my mouth. My mum gave me a smile before continue eating her breakfast. "Oh, where's appa?"
"He just went to the airport to send a client off. He promised that he'll be back for dinner with us tonight,"
"Really? Awesome! It's been long since we last had dinner together!"
*~*
"You've reached your school, young master Lee," my chauffeur, uncle Danny said. I grabbed my back from the back seat and got out of the car.
"Thank you uncle Danny! Have a nice day! Please drive safely!" I waved as he waved back and left the school.
I then walked towards my class, waving to everyone who smiled towards my direction on the way.
As I plopped down on my seat, I was greeted by the sight of chocolates and candies, along with love letters. I sighed, but smiled at the same time. I thank everyone for loving me so much, but nobody have really caught my eyes yet. I placed them into my bag one by one, carefully not to damage any of those precious things. I would have to look through them during my lunch later, and return to them. I wouldn't want them to waste their money of me, and I wouldn't want to give them false hope too since I'm not interested in them.
"Hey Minnie!" Kibum, my best friend greeted me as he walked into my classroom.
"Kibum hyung!" I ran towards him and gave him a big hug.
"Woah woah Minnie-ah. It's only been a weekend since you last saw me and you're missing me already?" he tried to get rid of my arms around him and said.
"Yah! Stop calling me Minnie, it's so awful. Anyway, yes, I miss you hyung!" I said with a smile.
"Alright! I shall have lunch with you later then, since you're missing me so much!"
"Why are you here anyway?" I said as we both walked back to my seat.
"I heard there's a new guy in your class today. I heard he's hot!" he whispered the last sentence.
"Oh hyung. Don't you try to match me up with some guys again... The last guy, what was his name again? Lee Joon? Or whatever. He was a pedo!" I pouted.
"No no no Minnie yah. I'm not trying to match you up with the new guy. I'm here to actually ask you to be careful! And I know it was my fault the other time, I didn't know him well enough. I'm sorry..."
"It's okay hyung! You've made up to me by treating me to ice-cream didn't you? And you're long forgiven~ Oh for the new guy, I haven't heard about him. I shall take a look later, ne?"
"Alright! Class is gonna start soon, I should get back now. See you during lunch at the usual place!"
"Okay hyung. Have a nice day." I said as I stood up to give him a last hug before he left my class.
First five minutes of the class passed by smoothly without any interruptions that I almost fell asleep. I almost forgot about the new guy Kibum hyung mentioned until I saw a short hair man ran into the class. He looks a bit tanned, and I couldn't help but noticed his bulging biceps on his arms.
"You're late," our teacher said to him without allowing his eyes to leave the blackboard.
“I’m sorry. It won’t happen again,” he replied. Wow, his voice was deep like the insole heels I'm currently wearing!
The next few conversation between my teacher and the new guy was whispered and I couldn't hear much, so I didn't bother about it too. I continued to doodle on my notebook.
"Hi. I’m Choi Minho. I’m new here." his deep voice got my attention once again.
"Choi Minho..." I whispered the name to myself and smiled unknowingly. Gosh, what was this feeling?
He then continued to talk to our teacher before walking towards my direction. He then sat down behind me. I turned around, being friendly as usual, I brought my hand up to him and did a little self introduction.
"Hi! I'm Lee Taemin," I said.
"Still Choi Minho, like I said earlier," he said without looking at me and my hand.
I have a little frown and shrugged it off. I doubt everyone is as friendly as I am.
