How can you describe a Caique?
That iridescent sheen
With squatted patch
Of orange, gold or green
That borders upon black.

Who knows where the Ant Lion dwells?
In sand, feet always moving
Jaws so large
His traps always improving
The catcher never tells.

How can one, the Indri, share?
So strange and elongated
So dignified
Yet rarely celebrated
Madagascar's tall, thin teddy bear.

Who perceives the Guinea Fowl?
Cousin of Turkey and Pheasant
Dark blue-grey
But spots of white are present
While perched upon its dowel.

~Bill Rogers
