Brooke glares over at Dean quickly, glancing down at the paper again. She can tell that he doesn't deserve the B he got on the paper, but that's the grade at the top of the page. The page that disproves Dean's remarks with the sheer volume of teacher comments alone.
She reads each one, paying attention to what he's getting better at and what he needs to work on. His spelling and punctuation have improved, which probably has something to do with Sam's help. He needs more in depth explanations, but given that Tim wrote it, she isn't surprised. One 'good insight' comment makes her smile right away.
He spent a lot of time on this. It took yelling and bribing and making Sam sit down at the table and Claire feed him immediately after, but it paid off. His teacher is grading him on progress rather than actual content--its a good thing, he needs the encouragement.
"He worked his ass off, that's not cheating," Brooke argued, standing up and walking over to place the paper on the refrigerator and stick a magnet over it. "I'm proud of you."
"You're gonna kiss me, right? You said if I got a B or better..."
"I didn't forget." Dean didn't either. She shrugs, grabs him by the jersey, and kisses him like the world is about to end. "Happy now?"
The sound of Dean slamming the back door shut tells her that someone isn't. Oh well, a promise is a promise.
