Maybe, despite the appearance that the rest of Hidden Leaf is completely unconcerned with that bright flash so many nights ago, Konoha's concealed network is actually working on gathering information regarding those events.
Trying to get information myself has been troublesome. If I wasn't so intrigued, I doubt I would be bothering. Or maybe if someone else seemed concerned, I wouldn't care. But that's not the case, huh. There's too much going on for me to ignore.
To start, one of the Akatsuki group was on our border (not the first time) and present during the fight between Hyuuga Neji and the missing nin, Uchiha Sasuke. It seems as though he meant to intervene in their fight for whatever reason, and Jiraiya was forced to reveal himself for their protection. A battle between those two ensued, and apparently, the Akatsuki member retreated in the middle of it, for whatever reason.
His retreat has a number of possible reasons. It's probable that he felt overwhelmed fighting Jiraiya (why anyone would engage a shinobi of one of the Legendary Three's caliber, I don't know - however, Orochimaru did not seem to have a problem confronting our Sandaime, and he used to be a member of this group, as I understand). It's also probable he grossly underestimated his own abilities (unlikely), or that he was called to a more urgent problem (more than likely by his group).
I'd like to conclude that this more urgent problem was the cause of the flash the other night, but I don't have enough evidence for that yet. The flash, as I've managed to confirm, was the result of two shinobi fighting. I can't pinpoint who exactly. I have ideas and speculations, but it's no use putting that information out there. I'm hoping my dad's relationship with two of the Legendary Three will shed some light on things - they've got to know something... But whether my dad has the authority to hand that information over to some kid playing detective, who knows.
I should just go to the Hokage herself and get permission to investigate. It's possible that the Flash fight was the return of that Akatsuki member, or even the appearance of another. I feel, though, like we'd be made more aware of the situation - at least the shinobi population of Konoha. Rather, those who've been involved with these ninja before (everyone from my first chuunin mission). A brewing attack and only the top class are informed? It could just be that the status of the situation hasn't reached that level yet. I just don't know... The two cases seem seperate but related, and it's more just a feeling than anything.
Ah, and don't let me forget that Hidden Sand's Kazekage seems interested in visiting. His sister is already here, and I think his brother as well. Why is the Kazekage trying to get away from his village? What is going on?
