Science Meet-up had gone well, and Scully was considering new projects to keep herself busy outside of classes. Maybe that gremlin anti-venom people kept wanting? Maybe.
She got back to her room and was opening the door when the tremor hit, which made her grab the doorframe and wait, suspicious, before entering.
She smiled when she saw her roommate. "Did you feel that?"
"I did," Rosalind said, glancing over her shoulder and away from the window. "It's peculiar, though. Do you know if the island is near any fault lines?"
"It's not supposed to be on this coast. At least not in my reality," Scully answered, shutting the door and heading over to her laptop, frowning as she started to pull up information.
"The last close one was over 400 miles away, over thirty years ago." She paused and looked up. "Fandom... thing? Possibly?"
Scully stretched out her fingers, thinking, then said, "If we get another one, I'll check the local USGS office. It's probably nothing." She knocked wood anyway. "How was your day? And how are your new classes going?"
She turned back to the window for a moment before pulling the curtain closed over it and taking a seat at her desk.
"My classes this semester a far superior to last semester's," she said dryly. "I have one that discusses the differences between heroes and villains and another on practical problem solving."
Her day had been one spent feeling slightly frustrated at the lack of stimulation. Rosalind therefore ignored the question.
"Practical Problem Solving? What kinds of problems?" Scully had to pause at the heroes and villains mention. "And I'd hope it wasn't that hard to tell between heroes and villains..."
"Fairly busy. Class-- Doomsday, and what to do after it happens. Taught by Reno." She frowned. "Which brought up several practical points that I need to look into. And the Science group meet-up."
"Sounds similar to my class. Hopefully you can prevent it, and if you can't, I'll have learned enough to mitigate the consequences." Scully's tone was wry. "Science group--- well, it's not a club. We don't have an adviser, or a set time to meet. Claudia and I just thought it might be fun for the more science-minded students to get together on occasion, and work on whatever project interests us. This time it was re-building the trebuchet."
Scully winced at that reminder. "Yes. Well. ... it made sense at the time?" She sighed. "To both of us. Claudia was convinced that science was evil, while I was just destructive. We were out at the cabins. I'm not dealing with that freight elevator by myself again."
"So many difficulties," she teased mildly and so solemnly that it only passed as teasing if you were paying attention. "You seem to be weathering them well enough."
Which gave Scully a moment of pause, and saying aloud, almost to herself, "Am I?" She sent Rosalind a swift look. "I don't know if it's a good idea to -- adapt to this place. Too much. This isn't supposed to be permanent."
She got back to her room and was opening the door when the tremor hit, which made her grab the doorframe and wait, suspicious, before entering.

"It's possible," Rosalind allowed. "Further observation is likely the best route to take."
After all, it had been only a tiny little tremor.

"End of the world problems," she said dryly. "It's quite interesting. Science group?"
Heroes and villains... well... Rosalind had a different definition than most on them.

"Ah yes," Rosalind intoned. "Fandom had some interesting personality issues that day."
