Note:
PLEASE LEAVE YOUR “TOTEMS” AT THE DOOR!
This is a cultural facility and does not promote personal belief systems, of those that are offensive or demeaning in nature to the culture.
Please observe the following rules:

1) Do not take photos unless you ask the dancers/performers permission first! Some are not interested in having their regalia distributed or seen outside cultural celebrations.
2) Do not call the outfits “Costumes”. They are not “costumes” and it offensive to call them such. They are Outfits or Regalia.
3) Do not point! Pointing is offensive in Aboriginal cultures.
4) Do not swear- profanity of any kind will not be tolerated. For ceremonial and celebratory events, proper etiquette MUST be observed.
5) Do not start talking about “totems” and “animal spirits”. These concepts are not perpetuated in the culture, and most non-community members do not understand that they do not exist in the aboriginal culture. Some aboriginals don’t even believe in “animal spirits” to begin with.
6) Do not speak when an Elder or Keynote speaker is speaking! This is disrespectful in the culture.
7) If you don’t know what to do- simply ASK. People are willing to teach and guide others who are not familiar in the culture. Don’t assume, just ask.
8) No DOGS! It is considered disrespectful to bring a dog to a gathering in the local aboriginal culture!
9) NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL PERMITED! Do not come intoxicated, or under the influence. Do not bring any toxins with you. You will be removed immediately.
10) People should listen to the M.C. (Master of Ceremonies) because he will announce the different songs and will also let visitors know when they can dance and when they cannot. He will also give our other information and news.
11) Do not run around the dance area. Horseplay is not tolerated. Always walk in a clockwise direction when you are in the dance area.
12) Please dress appropriately!

I’ll be there both days at reception: Come down and say hello- and have great fun!
