It's really quite confounding why the government's pressing ahead with this - even their own, lengthily researched, report concluded that a cull wouldn't be an effective means of controlling bTB, and that spread via badger isn't even that significant a vector, versus interaction with other cattle during moves around the country. On top of all that, vaccination trials are looking promising.
