Move Over Little Dog, A Big Bad Dog Is Movin' In (SPN 6.08)

German Shepherds are the new Yorkie...

Or maybe not. This episode, was another meh for me. SIGHS! Show, when in doubt add NUDITY, it makes everything OK! (Yeah... I'm a sexist sow, I've long since given up trying to deny it)

I'm not gonna do a long winded blow by blow this time, 'cause not a lot happened. The pacing seemed off on this one- though it did make many good points.

Lucky the Man seemed to be mirroring both Sam and Dean's situations. He wanted to belong to a family, but who and what he was had him on borrowed time with them. Dean could sympathize with this. He also was masquerading as something he was not. He played the role of the family dog, but the dog just wasn't there.... Oh hai Sam!

Sam and Dean's current situation makes them the perfect Good Cop Bad Cop duet. But Dean is so unhappy with this situation. He's in a position where he still cares for Sam, but Sam is incapable of caring for him. It's really awful for both of them. Because even though he can't feel it, Sam knows he's missing something. Something he needs to get back. And he knows he needs Dean. Sadly, Dean's needs can't be met. Not by this soulless brain marching around in his brother's gigantic form. And it's really painful to witness. I so hope the Show stops torturing everyone involved soon- including the viewers!

You know what this reminds me of in a werid way? If you watched Hercules, you'll know. Herc and Iolaus were the perfect team. Then they killed off Iolaus and replaced him with Iolaus from a parallel universe... except he was not!Iolaus... and even though this Iolaus was charming in his own way, he and Herc never meshed... and it was pretty darned painful. They fixed it up soon, though ironically the Real!Iolaus was briefly possessed by Dahok and was Evil!Iolaus... that was fun. Heck, to me, Evil!Sam is fun. Soulless! Not!Sam is Not!Fun. It's awful watching Dean be so miserable and alone... even with this Sammy Like thing by his side.

And I miss Sammy too! I keep thinking he has the ability to learn and gain the compassion and feelings he's missing. I didn't ever watch Star Trek, but wasn't Data like that? He had no human feelings, but the longer he was around humans, the more he absorbed? That's what I keep expecting of Sam... but all that he seems to learn is how to continuously adapt to his situation... not to change it.

I seriously hope they don't drag this soulless thing out much longer. I hate seeing the boys with THIS level of misery. In Seasons pasts, they've had pain, angst and sorrow of course. But they at least had each other. Even Evil!Blood!Slurping!Sammy still strived to maintain some connection with Dean, and Dean, mad as he was never gave up on Sam... Now Sammy just ain't home. And Dean seems ready to give up. I wants Sam's soul back, I'm sure... but it means dealing with a Demon and he's learned his lesson there.

Speaking of that Devil...Mr. Crowley what HAS been done in your head? The Scottish Leprechaun has lost his Lucky Charms... his Charms anyway. Now he's just plain mean! Turning in my Crowley!Girl badge, cuddly as Mark Sheppard is.

But next week the boys battle.... TINKERBELL?!?!? Oh, they're doomed! That flighty beeyotch don't play!

crowley, meh, deep thoughts, sam, spn, episode reviews, crazy making
