About to begin the 4th week of my summer vacation. Victoria was home for a week: we went to the Ga Aquarium. Alex left for California: will be back next week. Missing Julie and Stephanie. Hung out with Tricia in Kennesaw. Sewed a quilt made from highschool t-shirts.
I've decided to study abroad first semester of Senior year because it would be cheaper than out-of-state tuition, and I should use this opportunity to stamp my passport. I'm thinking Australia/new Zealand becuase I've always wanted to go and don't see myself having a chance to go. This means I must get an internship for next summer. I have been bad by not doing one yet, but in my defense I am taking 7 hrs of credit this summer. Classes are going alright. I need to force myself to do more reading. One of my profs (the women's novel one) has posted the books for fall semester, so I found The Handmaid's Tale at the used bookstore. I MUST force myself to make use of my pool membership by reading a chapter a day by the pool when I'm not in class.
Tomorrow I start working with the week-long workshop at SPSU were I show highschool girls around the campus to entice them to help balance the male/female ratio here. (a sad 6% female). I'll make some good money, and get fed when I take them to the cafeteria. I know i told myself I would have a serious summer-long job by now, but I would totally see myself burnt-out by now if I were working the same job everyday. Done some babysitting, and I'll teach swim-lessons now and again. My grandmother saw the quilt I made the other week, and has offered to pay me to make her a similar one (but queen size!) from old baby clothes. I would never think that i would enjoy sewing as much as I do, and I'm not bad at it (the key is not to be a perfectionist, you must work with the flaws). ok, i should get back to reading my textbook, but i plan to update this LJ more often than I have, so look forward to it.
