B is for Broccoli
There was a blurb on NPR this morning about Cookie Monster eating broccoli, so I googled it and found that Cookie's been on a diet for a while:
Here: "Think Sesame Street's Cookie Monster and think ... broccoli? In a fit of drastic behavior modification, the cookie-addicted bundle of fur is declaring that cookies are, in fact, only a 'sometime food'."
I grew up on Sesame Street, and still have a fondness for it, and also think this is a great move by the program - confronting childhood obesity - I'm still a little sad at the change in Cookie, who was always my favorite.
Cuz OBVIOUSLY I've modeled my life after the fat, furry, screaming, hedonistic tub of raging goo who has absolutely no willpower, erupts in destructive outbursts, and consumes sugary treats in an effort to fill the huge, black void inside. (I mean, um, I'm well-adjusted and content.)
So it's kinda sad seeing him eat the broccoli. (Even though he follows it up by eating cookies. And a microphone. And talking about James Lipton?)
