For Me and You

Oct 19, 2006 16:03

The sky glistens
A crystal blue
Soft white clouds
Drift on by
A gentle breeze
Of the sweetest wind
A beautiful view
Of a wonderful day
People laughing
Birds’ singing
And everyone smiling
Happiness and joy
You can see it
Far and wide

As I sit hear
Listening to my music
I watch everyone pass on by
Laughing and smiling
To their hearts content
Enjoying their day
In the bright, warm sun
I smirk and laugh softly
For I do not see
All the joy and peace
That can make even the smallest
Dance with glee

People smile and giggle with merriment
But others cover up what they try to hide
The sadness and pain the others may feel
Go unnoticed of this world, unrevealed
Shadows cover their darkened soul
As the cower in fear of the truths untold
Loneliness and misery
Not even a care
Heartbreak and pain
Of horror that they wish not to gain

Getting up slowly
I grab my things and leave
Into the crowd I go
Hoping to blend
Like everyone else
To cover up my sadness and envy
Of those who don’t need to hide
To cover up their loneliness

Why can’t I be like them?
All happy and blissful
Why do I have to have
This pain in my heart
To feel my sorrow
And my regrets
Why can’t I
Just be free like the birds
That fly in the sky
With no worries or fears
Or like the child that plays in the water
Way over there
Why can’t I be the girlfriend
That I need to be

Yet I’m told
“Hey, it’s ok, you’ve done nothing wrong.”
Now I know that I should listen
To the words of my friends
But especially yours
The words of my love
The one who stole my heart
And held my hand through the good times
And the bad
The one who gave me kisses
Of sweet tranquility

Maybe you’re right
I’m a bit paranoid
I worry and worry
But yet I know I can trust
You till the very end
Because not once have you given me
A reason to doubt
That what we have
Can be lost amongst the sea of new

Now I see what I truly hide
My hope
I don’t hide my fear
Or my worries
But my hope
Because I had feared
That if it had risen
That it would fall and shatter
And I’d be lost
In despondency and solitude

But here, look at me
I can walk now
With my head held high
With new resolution
That I can be strong
Because I need to

For me and you
