so, let me just say that this is the first episode of grey's in an ETERNITY that i have felt talking about, and that made me tear up. way to go shonda, way to go!!!
it's been awhile, but let's talk. first of all, that whole private practice/greys overlap was kind of ridiculous, but i really enjoyed addison being back on the show. especially because she really went toe to toe with derek and somebody seriously needs to take him down a few notches because meredith is just always buttering him up.
more than anything, more than izzie being crazy, karev being a good doctor lately, and bailey's new hairdo (which looks great, btw), i want to say thanks to shonda for finally giving yang a new love interest. and i want to thank her for making him just as good a character as isaiah washington played, with the same depth and range that a character like yang needs. it is awesome to see her challenged and excited again. love it.
there was a weird concentration this episode on everyone being a god. it kind of freaked me out when dr. old started booming I AM A GOD when yang talked to her at the end. OLDS! they're so crazy these days. but yeah that lady definitely needed to lay down the knife. when i can't see colors anymore, or i can't tell typefaces apart, then i'll know its time to lay down the wacom pen.
karev has really been a responsible human and doctor lately, which is commendable. i feel like george has really been LEFT BEHIND in favor of other characters and their relationships, which is kind of disappointing. of course izzie is out of her gd mind, but maybe she'll get it together. i can't tell if she has cancer or not. good vague ending on that.
but let's talk about a moment i really enjoyed, and that is when dr. sleaze, aka sloan, punched derek in the face. i think derek is a total idiot. i know everyone is all mer/der ga-ga, but i love when that guy suffers. i don't know what it is in particular, but man i loved that he got the crap beaten out of him and then did shot after shot like a louse. the scene between derek and addison in the OR where each one kept telling the other one to put the knife down was pretty unnerving - derek was like a mad scientist. a mad scientist who later got decked.
i don't really believe that dr. sleaze and grey jr. will work out, but that's fine. callie and her lesbian adventures are kind of redeeming her character for me - she finally seems to be standing up for herself and coming into her own instead of just whining about everything.
the moment that made me cry, if you're wondering, was a combo of the husband of that lady who derek couldnt save telling derek to stop saying sorry, and then husband also leaning on karev sobbing. that guy is a great actor.
whatever song was playing during the addison/derek OR showdown was excellent. gotta find out what that was.
and bailey's new 'do - rockin. i fully support it.
