before i went to california i bought a new digital camera. this is kind of a big deal only because i rarely buy new electronics (the last thing i really remember buying and not receiving as a gift is a pair of jbl creature speakers i bought in 2002 or 2003.) i had the same nikon coolpix 4300 since 2003 and it was old and kind of sucked. it's been through a lot and the focus is rough and.. well, you get the picture.
for a better example, my television is the same 13" tv/vcr i've had since i left for college. when it dies i will be truly sad because it will take a lot for me to buy another one. everyone makes fun of how small it is, but i have never felt tv envy for anything larger.
the new camera is a sony cybershot t70 with a touch screen; it is weird to have it, but to its credit, i just experienced the unadulterated joy that children feel when i used the a/v cord to plug it into my tv (which is roughly only 9x the size of the camera screen itself) and watch videos i shot of ahmed drumming with caribou on wednesday night. a, because i am proud of him like a stage mom, and b, because technology is sometimes really great.
