so over it.

i've been listening to sleater-kinney & le tigre all day so i must be on this tip, but i have got to say, as a lady, i am so tired of every political show being a big circle jerk about obama. even bill maher has turned into everyone popping boners and calling him 'infallible' - NO ONE is infallible. that kind of view on a politician is so twisted and weird that it makes me want to throw up. i guess that's also why i'm an atheist.

and this shit isn't even obama's fault. to me it isn't even about him anymore, it's about how stupid (on the whole) american voters and the american media are. melanie and i had been discussing the whole dem primary, and she made the point that she is disgusted by clinton's campaign - and i can't say i wholly disagree with her on that, but by no means does she, as a person, deserve the denigration that just keeps going like the patriarchal white male privilege old boys club energizer bunny.

i know bill made a point to say 'don't write me letters, ladies' after showing his charming sexist montage of 'the many personalities of hillary clinton' - hey thanks bill, for condescending to us. like ONLY A WOMAN would ever have different aspects to her personality that aren't all saintly. and GEEZ, those women and their MOOD SWINGS ! when will they ever quit?! 'comedy' of that nature just isn't funny anymore. i know this is a presidential campaign, and i know that projecting one image the entire time is part of the game, but damn dude. each one of them is human - well, i'm not entirely convinced romney wasn't a ken doll.

what's less funny is that he preceded it with some poll facts - 6% of americans won't vote for a black president, but a whopping 12% don't believe a woman could be president. not 'hillary clinton', but a woman.

what i hate the most is that bill maher takes all these shots at her and then immediately follows them up with 'but i really do like hillary clinton' like that is supposed to placate everyone. if he doesn't support her and doesn't like her, OKAY! but quit trying to have it both ways so you don't lose your precious audience.

i'm so unnerved by all of this that i can't even concentrate to watch new rules! and that's always the funniest part.

annoyances, television, feminism, politics, hillary clinton, hbo shows
