ok so who else has hbo? or rather, who else somehow listens to or watches bill maher's show?
dennis kucinich, that little elf from parma, was just on his show. he is everywhere lately ! a fun story about him is that he had dinner at my parents' house when i was a kid. i think i was in third grade or so. at the time, he couldn't have been vegan because i have no freakin clue what my mom would have fed him. he DID want hot water with lemon after dinner though. that's my only anecdote about him.
one thing i like about dennis is that he's always smiling. and i don't know if i like it because it freaks me out and it's almost like a weird drug-induced hippie smile, or if i just find it comforting. plus he's from cleveland and i'm ohio pride til i die so i have to say, he is growing on me. i'm not going to lose my affection for hillary clinton as prez, but i love watching dennis say and do his little elven hippie things.
also richard belzer is on and i love him. LOVE HIM. he looks great with grey hair.
tonight was the first part of my georgia go run political leadership training. it's weird. i got there and was really just wandering around by myself drinking wine, making weird small talk with people. we didn't really have presentations tonight, just introductions and stuff. one woman drove down from philadelphia and interrupted one of the coordinators to introduce herself, said some really polarizing things about not liking hillary clinton, so the coordinators had to blow the whistle on her and tell her to LEAVE HER PARTISANSHIP AT THE DOOR ! haha. it's funny, because after everyone introduced themselves, people would clap, but as soon as she started shit talking hillary, the applause afterward dwindled considerably.
the range of women there is amazing. two women talked about how they used to be homeless and want to get in to politics to reform policy, one woman is a truck driver who is focused on solar energy and hot water on demand tanks and lives in a mountain community in tennesee. one woman is a muslim criminal defense lawyer in atlanta. there's students and older women and a whole ton of ladies in between. it was really exciting to hear them all tell little stories tonight. i introduced myself as the wild card. haha.
the new issue of spin has an article on 72 hours in atlanta. i was really disappointed when everything mentioned for the most part, were places and restaurants i've already been to. sigh.
my latest lookbook came in from the printer today. there's things i would change, but overall i'm happy with it. it has cool vinyl overlays in it ! woo, excitement !!
also, hidden river by adrian mckinty is awesome.
