Everyone was forced to evacuate the building, and once they proper authorities were called in, the building administrators realized it would be awhile and sent everyone to the cafeteria. Except for me. In my state of complete soakedness, I made it clear I was not going to go outside. Apparently the authorities' time estimate was a bit off, becuase 5-10 minutes later everyone was allowed back into the building and up to their floors. Oh, unless you lived on the 6th floor (my floor, the flood floor), then you were to start in the lobby at the bottom of the building or go somewhere else. Most of us stayed and spent the morning complaining and telling our stories about the incident to different people from the university. At around 6:30, the group of guys who live on our floor who are from Washington D.C. came back from going to IHOP and the hostility, already at a high level, was raised a couple more notches. These guys expressed that whomever did this was going to get "fucked up" if they found out who it was. In all seriousness, I don't doubt this. This would not be your average "white-surburbia-two-kids-yell-at-eachother-then-one-gets-a-black-eye-and-maybe-they-wrestle" fight. This would be a hardcore ass-whooping straight from the streets of D.C. Unfortunately no one had any clue who did it. So 7 A.M rolled around and I was getting rather hungry. Yet, as I mentioned before, I had neglected to grab my keys or wallet, so I had options for breakfast. Luckily a few of the other guys were in the same fix and we formed a coalition and requested that we be allowed into our rooms simply to retirve these items. Our request was denied, but after same serious debate an agreement was settled upon. Offcials would be sent into our rooms to gather what things we needed. So I got my wallet, called Porter, and we went to Denny's for some breakfast. I like the Denny's here on Sunday mornings, because its when this kinda cute Asian girl named Moseph works. Anyway, I took Porter back to campus, but I still had much time before they would be done vacumming up the water, so i decided to go to Barnes and Noble for awhile. I got to Barnes and Noble only to find it didn't open until 9. It was 8:45 so I decided to wait it out in the car. Three to four minutes later I was asleep. I woke up when Boga called an hour later, then made my way back to the dorms. As the elevator opened to the 6th floor, the smell hit me like a shockwave. Forcing myself to hold down what I had just eaten for breakfast, I walked down the hallway (which was still wet) only to walk into my room, which was also still freakin' wet. I stole one of the giant fans from out in the hall and placed in the room to help it dry. I talked to my R.A. about the wetness and smell issue and he said maintenence would be by tommorow to shampoo the carpet. The next few days were a battle between us and the sogginess and smell, which I can say now that we won. I am a pretty calm guy, and I took most of this in stride. At only one point was I about to flip. Later on Sunday, Boga and I were riding the elevator down, when this soroity girl and her guy friend got on. The guy didn't live in Walker and she was relating the events of the night before to him. It basically went something like this "Omigod and like we had to like wake up once, and then omigod we had to like wake up again! Omigod! It's such a pain, I mean, omigod, it was like the worst thing ever!" I wanted to take a blunt object to this girl's face. My room is wet and smells like ass, and she wants to complain about the inconvenience of getting woken up in the early morning. Luckily my faith in humanity was restored later that day when two girl from the girls side of our floor came over and asked if there was anything they could do to help, and to feel free to come get them if there was. So in all of this, I suppose I learned that there are some good people out int he world to make up for the drunk idiots that pull the fire alarms. Oh, and I also learned that if ever you have the choice of carpet or tile in your dorm pick tile. Oh, and also not to keep electronic equipment on the floor. Ok, I think that's it.
