i remember when i was a brownie, we actually met every monday, except for the reasons you said-breaks from school, holidays. maybe that was possible/not rigorous because it was a different time (10-15 years ago? who knows)

i honestly don't remember how long it took us to accomplish try-it's, though my brownie sash is definitely more covered than any of my others. just like any level, however, the point is to have fun, and if you earn something in the process, than kudos.

i do think having a meeting with the parents to see how things can be worked out is a good idea. if all this disappointment is being told to you by the co-leader and no one else, you might to figure out how much truth is behind it without making her think you don't believe her. also, informing the parents now of where their daughters stand in earning patches and see if they want to earn them if they are behind is a good idea.

as for this co-leader, i'd probably just leave her on the paper if you think she might get upset and do something if you take her off. unless it really bothers you that she's on the paper and not doing anything, i'd just leave it alone. pick your battles.

i really hope for an update, i am interested how things turn out. brownies is a really sad time to lose half the troop. and sorry for the long comment post.
