I grew up in a small remote town in southern Maine. Granted it was a tourist town so there were a lot of people during the summer, but in the winter it was just 250 people at the most. Somehow we ended up with a troop of 8 brownies, my mom was the leader. I still have a picture of that troop (I carry with my in my leader bag) from 1977.
I've since moved around the world and come back to ths same state (totally different town though). Recently I went to a "girl drive" where we go to schools during parents night and see if girls are interested in joining. I was talking to some of the moms that were interested and of course we usually start off with "were you a girl scout?" One of the mom's said she was and I asked if it was this town. She answered with no and named the town (Can you see where I am going with this?). YES!! It was the same town I grew up in, so I asked the troop number... sure enough... she was in my troop, so I whipped out that picture of the troop! Yup, that was her!! We started giggling like a couple of brownies from years ago. It's just... Amazine to remember that. And I mean, this wasn't just a few years ago. This was mid-late 70s! I think I may end up with her daughter in my troop!
