I'm currently watching The Mummy Returns in my hotel room while my sisters are passed out tired on the beds. It's currently Saturday 8:05pm here, which means it's Saturday 3:00am back in good old California.
Even though I only had 2 full days in South Korea, I wouldn't mind coming back. Why? Because my money goes so very far. $3 mecklace, $20 sweater dress and a (fake) Louis Vuitton scarf for $10. Haha. And the funny thing? I had to talk to the merchants in Japanese. Good old Nihongo, who would have thought. "How much?" I asked as I pointed to the fake but passable Louis Vuitton bag. "Go-man" the vendor answered. Fifty thousand won? That's nearly $60, which is horribly insane. "Ikura desu ka?" I asked a shoe vendor for the most perfect brown boots I've ever seen. "San-man" (30,000 won, roughly $30). Sad thing, Korean feet are narrow as hell. However, my mom scored two pairs of shoes that look like Gucci for 25,000 won, which is roughly $30. And my older sister bought Bi/Rain keychains.
You know what's really funny? This whole trip has so many stupid Bi/Rain jokes. First was "This country is so 'sparkling'!" in reference to his one line in the Tour2Korea commercials to "Rain is coming!", blah blah blah. Also because it was raining copious amounts of rain that my shoes were soaked through. Also, the first night I turned on the TV was a special about Bi/Rain's career, like something familiar easing us into this very foreign country (BTW, Bi/Rain is a Korean pop-star, one of the most infuential people in the world, and subject of many girls' adoration. It's like Usher, but Korean). And also did I mention that Korean drivers are just as crazy as Italians on the road? Yeah. They're effin insane. Like when there was a car on fire in the middle of a busy street and fire trucks were trying to get to it. No one stopped to let the fire trucks pass. They just kept driving.
And Spongebob is just as annoying in Korean as he is in English.
I think I'll update later. Guess I'll eat my onigiri, or my... erm... san-something-something-bimbap? I dunno; this language fails me like you will never know.
Hopefully, the next post will have pictures. And videos. Yay.
