"I avoided feeding. I went almost a month without one drop of blood. I was dying. I saw the teens, and took a sip from one. They were unconscious, I made sure of that. I just couldn't stop. I blacked out. When I woke up, they were dead, blood was everywhere, and I was a killer. I've never killed before, and it sucks. So if you could just.....kill me, I'd be so grateful..."
I nodded. "My pleasure."
I brought my hand up swiftly. He closed his eyes and looked away. My heart pounded so quickly. I noticed his lips moving. I listened carefully.
"Hail Mary, Full of Grace..." He was praying.I Got my knife at the ready. All I had to do was bring it forward. All I had to do was bring it forward. All I had to do was bring it forward.
"I can't do it...I just can't!" I cried. A look of sorrow crossed his face. He nodded.
"Killing isn't easy-"
"But it should be! For me, it always HAS been! I've killed almost a hundred demons in one year alone! But one stupid vampire, WHO ISN'T EVEN FIGHTING ME, I can't touch!" Tears of pure rage slipped pathetically down my check. Once the first few came, I couldn't stop. I cried for Anthony, who's probably dead now. I cried for my lost job, which I loved far more than I thought. I cried for the three boys who had just lost their lives. I cried for the poor man who was now clutching me as I cried on his shoulder. And I cried for me, who was so hardened that killing someone grew routine.
When the tears finally stopped, I found myself sitting on the ground talking with the vampire. Nothing in particular. His name was James, and he was 200 years old. I told him my name, my real name. We just... talked. At about dawn, i told him I had to go, but I wanted to keep in touch...with a vampire, who I was supposed to kill. As I walked down the hill, he grabbed my wrist.
It was then that I realized I was in love with him.
