Oh Oscars!
The good-
They made the army present an award to a short documentary about a Lesbian Civil Rights activist! It was amazingly awesome. Definitely my favorite part of the night. Go liberal hollywood!
Diablo Cody won - one of the few ladies to win a high(ish) status production awards.
Once beat out all three of the annoying Disney songs
Jon Stewart was pretty funny.
The bad -
A woman has never won the Academy Award for Best Direction. This year it wasn't even a possibility - all the directors were men.
Although many awards went to foreigners, none that I'm aware of went to PoC.
Things like this are why we have to remember, even if Obama or Clinton win the presidency, that it's largely a fluke and it doesn't mean everything is a-ok in race and gender relations.
