It's interesting that after Sunday, a few articles have been creeping up about how perhaps Fed had it easier in winning in the past because players like Roddick, Baghdatis etc just weren't in the same league and they made him look even better than he actually is? I'd really never even thought of that before, and perhaps there's some truth in it? Albeit, there's no doubting that he is a brilliant player and has hit some shots that are just out of this world. Maybe with winning the US Open so convincingly v Murray Fed thought he had his mojo back and thought that he was invincible again?
Agreed that his words afterwards were less than graceful - although I can see why he said it, because, Jesus, his serving in the 5th was AWFUL. But hey, it takes two, and Rafa had to take those chances given to him by the shambolic play. But I don't think anyone ever handed anything to anyone in these matches. But yes, we need the rivalry. I think maybe they both dp? It's just the pinnacle of sport for me to watch them battle. ALthough - I think someone else could only win the French if Rafa was injured - but perhaps Verdasco could be the only threat? I mean, I doubt it. But you never know!
