As of now, AFP reports that Arshavin has signed for £12m. Here's hoping, all the news seems to be like a pendulum today.

Ah, the Australian Open. Friday's semi was pretty unbearable, seeing as I was at my desk at work. So I was restricted to just flicking back and forth at the BBC Sport website and bashing F5 every so often. At one point I was ( Read more... )

This is what is still so thrilling about being a Rafa fan. No matter how many times you've seen him hits shots or chase down balls in an amazing fashion, he still never ceases to amaze. Whenever I have a hard day at work I glance at the pic of Rafa I have on my desktop and I put myself in the mindset to just keep hitting balls back and keep going.

It's interesting that after Sunday, a few articles have been creeping up about how perhaps Fed had it easier in winning in the past because players like Roddick, Baghdatis etc just weren't in the same league and they made him look even better than he actually is? I'd really never even thought of that before, and perhaps there's some truth in it? Albeit, there's no doubting that he is a brilliant player and has hit some shots that are just out of this world. Maybe with winning the US Open so convincingly v Murray Fed thought he had his mojo back and thought that he was invincible again?

Agreed that his words afterwards were less than graceful - although I can see why he said it, because, Jesus, his serving in the 5th was AWFUL. But hey, it takes two, and Rafa had to take those chances given to him by the shambolic play. But I don't think anyone ever handed anything to anyone in these matches. But yes, we need the rivalry. I think maybe they both dp? It's just the pinnacle of sport for me to watch them battle. ALthough - I think someone else could only win the French if Rafa was injured - but perhaps Verdasco could be the only threat? I mean, I doubt it. But you never know!
