3 Lions, no roar...

Ah yes, another weekend, another international, another abysmal England performance.  Players out of position, players clearly not wearing their club boots and just not being able to play international football.  I feel bad for the fans who paid to see this abysmal dirge, I only had to suffer it on the radio. Now comes the matter of Andorra on Wednesday.  But I feel it's academic, we're unlikely to beat Russia twice and Croatia: not even Wembley's brand new gleaming arch could conjure such a miracle.  But hey, there should be plenty of home nations to cheer on and I guess realisitically I just want to see a good game of football.  Should we bring back Beckham? I think so, if we can (he's injured at the moment) because at least he gave some leadership and cared 100% about the result.  And conjured a few miracles in his time, too!

Claire came over on Saturday and we caught up after her trip which was really nice, I sort of wish I could find the spirit to do one of those travelling holidays rather than just going to a place and staying there for a while.  I'm not sure if I could carry my life around in a rucksack for a couple of weeks, but it looks like fun.  My cousins both did the round-the -world thing a good few years back, and one recently told me she's going to Argentina and Chile for six weeks backpacking. Lord knows how she got 6 weeks off work, must have put in some serious overtime.  My uncle sent me this email telling me all about his upcoming boat trip, all three weeks of it along the Thames.  My Uncle and Aunt's boat isn't too big and the shower/loo is much like a cupboard.  I think if I was showering in a cupboard for three weeks I'd start to feel pretty unclean! Maybe I just have no adventure in me.  Perhaps I would survive with my iPod and notepad though.  But of course, I was forgetting about the locks!

I just took a sneak look at our copy of Casino Royale and screencapped a few bits and bobs, maybe I will do some icons when in the mood.  I still really should make some Kill Bill icons too, seeing as I love it so.  I really need to sit down with some films, because I have so many DVDs still to watch.  The first two Three Colours films are still sadly atop my PS2,  I must not have seen Oxygen for about two years which is such a crime,  The Godfather remains unopened and I'm not going to go on now!

Whoever voted Casualty ahead of ER in the Radio TImes poll as being the best medical drama clearly stole all of TPTB's collected weed over the years and rolled it into a huge reefer and smoked it for a long, long time.  Casualty should not be forgiven for spurning the heinous offspring that is Holby City and for being put on at 8pm so it lost all its grit.  And for having resus rooms that have little boxes and carefully organised trays, while in ER it's not uncommon to see flying saline, suture kits etc etc.  I know I'm probably preaching to the converted here, but I feel like a TV rant.

One of the best things on at the moment: Live from Abbey Road.  First week I saw it: James Morrison and Craig David, then they proceeded to spoil me further last Friday with John Mayer and Richard Ashcroft.  Why does it have to be hidden away at 11pm though? They should put it up against Dancing on Ice (it's over for another year, joy!) so that there's a good alternative.

And so to bed, another patchy, erratic work day seems to have taken its toll.
