The NAFF race is off and running. I've included the announcement below. NAFF is a really fantastic project which enables fans to make an interstate convention when perhaps they otherwise might not have been able. This year Rachel Holkner is the nominee and it would be truly a travesty if she were not at Natcon. Whilst voting might seem less important in this kind of race, each vote contributes to the fund which will bring her to Perth. So vote to show your support for Rachel and for NAFF! The National Australian Fan Fund (NAFF) was created to assist fans to travel across Australia to attend the National Science Fiction Convention (Natcon). NAFF assists fans to travel to the Natcon and, where possible, covers the costs of airfares and accommodation. A convention membership is donated by the Natcon. This year’s NAFF race is to the 50th Australian Natcon,
Swancon Thirty Six | Natcon Fifty, which will be held in Perth over the Easter weekend 21-25 April 2011. It is expected that the winner will produce a report of their trip, engage in fundraising to support future NAFF races, and to help administer the NAFF race for the following two years.
All Australian fans are eligible to vote. The voting process contributes to the fundraising so each vote costs $5. You are more than welcome to donate more than this amount! Votes are being collected by: Sue Ann Barber (VIC) and Gina Goddard (WA). For more information please
contact Gina. Voting opens Monday 14 March and concludes on Sunday 4 April 2011.
Please make all cheques payable to NAFF or National Australian Fan Fund. Please email
Gina if you would like to pay via direct deposit or PayPal. Cash, in person, is welcome, but not through the mail!

Nominees
Rachel Holkner
Rachel is a fairly new Melbourne fan who leapt in feet first after her first convention in 2003. She has since been an active Continuum Foundation and committee member (co-chairing Continuum 5: Galaxies by Gaslight in 2009) and attended many conventions across Australia, but has never been to Western Australia or the infamous Swancon! Rachel brings creativity in the form of crafts, video mash-ups and conversation to conventions and writes in very short bursts, usually on twitter: @cochineal. While no dance floor is safe when she is in the room, the zombie cat is only made of papier-mâché.
Nominators: Danny Oz; Emilly McLeay; Alisa Krasnostein.
You may also choose to vote 'Hold over funds' if you think that a delegate should not be selected this year or you can choose to 'write in' in the name of another candidate.
