Why don't you follow the Yarn Harlot's example and make up kits with the yarn and the pattern for a pair of socks and make a pair each month? Even if you don't plan for a monthly pair of socks (because who needs even more pressure *grin*), putting them into ziplock bags that include everything you need to make a pair of socks means that when you get the urge to knit you don't need to mess around getting started.

Plus, having a box of neat ziplock bagged kits will give you a sense of accomplishment, even if you never make the socks *grin*.

That's an awesome idea! I was reading her doin that and it never occurred to me to do the same. All I did last night was stand there and look at all that money spent on, granted, gorgeous hand dyed sock yarn. But still! And yeah, lots of those were for socks for ME and I never got round to doing that.
