I've been mulling over all day comments in my other post about the BSG ending
It seems most people seem mostly upset about Starbuck's ending - that she didn't get a happy ending. I've been thinking about why her fate doesn't bother me, she was one of my favourite characters. And I just can't see her setting up house with Lee and making babies and tilling the soil and being happy doing that. She was a top class pilot. A soldier. A strategist. A hero. She was driven to fight the good fight, till she couldn't anymore. And her actual death was falling into that black hole (wasn't it?) in search of Earth - on a mission, with a purpose. Something she spent her whole life trying to find - a purpose, a reason, an importance for her life. She found that. And then she came back and bailed them out - they couldn't have pulled off that last mission without her, nor have found Earth etc.
I just don't see her staying in a lonely cabin waiting out the rest of her days.
