Two Boxes, both alike in dignity in Yokine where we lay our scene ...
So the mystery has been partially solved.
You may recall, dear reader, that I got to the end of Conflux, balanced all the various small presses sales versus monies, neatly packed up all the left over books and then very promptly forgot about Twelfth Planet Press till I got to the airport and realised I had left my two boxes of books in the Dealers Room back at the hotel. An urgent text to the fine Sir Robert Hood was met with gallantry and he located the boxes, packed them up on his white horse and took them back to Wollongong with him and Cat Sparks and then they posted them to me, at some expense.
I woke last Saturday morning to a curious email from Ms Sparks to inform me that whilst she had indeed posted my two boxes, she was no longer certain as to what was inside and she had opened a box that very day to find it full of copies of Angel Rising - the book we are to relaunch this Saturday at Wastelands II, in Perth. Curious.
Mysterious, even. And I have been waiting with somewhat baited breath to see what will arrive in the post. Yesterday they arrived and I was chastised somewhat by my Post Master who thought the boxes were too heavy. Indeed the label "Heavy" on each box was perhaps a give away. "They're books", says I.
"I know," he replies (cause what else would they be?). "They come from Wollongong."
So I schlepped them home and ripped them open, eager to see what Ms Sparks had indeed sent me. 37 copies of Canterbury 2100 were found in one box and in the other, about 50 copies of Angel Rising, 3 copies of The Glass Woman, 7 copies of Creeping in Reptile Flesh and only 5 copies of Scary Food Cookbook.
It's now a race against time to see if we can get enough copies of Scary Food Cookbook to this coast in order to sell at Wastelands II and raise money for the Paul Haines Fund. Can she do it? Only time will tell. But stayed tuned, I will cover this event in full detail here, on this blog.
