people in every direction
in the last week i've gone crab fishing in chesapeake bay, raced in a porsche, kissed a pony and been ADOPTED ! and i'm still only 600 miles from where i started.
i was on the virginia coast last week and got breakfast at a bakery in this tiny little town, and a bunch of middle aged guys saw that i was looking at a map and randomly started talking to me about my trip and virginia and the south. i stayed at the bakery for almost two hours talking and doing a crossword puzzle with them and then one of them invited me to the grand opening of a restaurant where most of the town was going to be that night.
at the restaurant i had a few beers and met the wives and families of the guys and tons of other people from the town who were all amazingly friendly and nice. the wife of one of the guys invited me to stay with them that night and i ended up living with their family for the entire weekend, cooking at a barbeque for their grandmother's 83rd birthday and going out with their son ben and his friends. the dad races porsches and the son fishes and drives a boat so i got to do all that for a few days, and on the last night i got really trashed with all of them and threw up in the bathroom of an oil tycoon heiress. that wasn't fun or anything but hell if i thought that would happen the morning i walked into the bakery.
total southern hospitality ! it was so amazing to just be completely accepted into a family like that immediately and when i finally left a few days later i was SO sad because the dad kept telling me to call and check in to let them know i was safe and the mom called me sweetheart and darlin. after i left i went up to washington dc to crash with jeremy, and then down to virginia beach for a day and then north carolina. last night i crashed with ben again in his apartment at eastern carolina university (where his dad called to make sure i had enough money/gas for the road ! awwwwww alskdjaslkdj), and now i'm in raleigh, north carolina and i don't really know what to do with myself, but i'm leaning towards graceland.
sorry if this stuff is boring to you guys but it's really great for me ! ill try to post some elvis photos soon. i miss you guys :(
