As seen on an SUV bumper...

Today driving to work, I saw a bumper sticker which read "Get off my ass!". You know the kind...you're too close if you can read this, etc, etc. Like those were actually funny when they first came out in 1978. Not uncommon, I know. But, on the same vehicle was *another* bumper sticker which said "Prayer is the Answer", with a cross on it. Oddly enough, the stickers were in approximately the same size font, so in order to receive the lord's message one would also simultaneously be [crudely] told you shouldn't be that close to it. Clearly this was not intended to be at all the exercise in surreal irony which it so patently was. So, to summarize: "Don't fucking tailgate me, asshole! And, by the way, don't forget to pray for the salvation of Christ!" Yessiree, kids...all that can go wrong with organized religion, illustrated right there on one bumper.

In related news, I have had a revelation of my own of the less-than-religious sort, deciding that I had neither the time nor energy to get hooked on a new series right now, and have deleted the first five eps of "Eureka!" from my DVR, sight unseen. I shall await the mocking snicker of my flist, some of whom already know my habit of coming to my senses in late s1 or even s2 of some quality shows [VM, BSG, Arrested Development] in the past. What can I say? As much as I would love another Northern Exposure in my life, sometimes you just have to wait to hear Matt Roush and TV Guide gush until you Really Believe.
