(1) Consumers benefit. Workers are consumers too.

(2) Globalization isn't going away. It's better for them to lose their jobs now, and get training / find alternative occupations, than doing this when they're older.

Also, think of the poor 3rd-world workers who, thanks to outsourcing, can now afford to drink clean water / buy medication / send their kids to school.

How can workers consume when they no longer have jobs to fund their participation in the market?

How would you frame that to the person who is losing their job? I'm not sure they would think that "it's better for them to lose their jobs now" rather than later.

I refuse to believe that the rest of the world ceases to function if the so-called "first" world fails to underpay people for skilled labour.

fails to underpay? I don't get it...

Most outsourcing is done with unskilled labour...

for computery jobs, they'd have to be somewhat skilled, wouldn't they?

I'm not sure where I was going with the other bit. It was 6am, pre bedtime.

It doesn't help anyone because they outsource it to total dopes who only aggravate the consumers further. Have we not learned from America yet? This is not good.

I don't think there would be customer interaction at this point in this scenario... but I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up there.

Without getting into the actual economics...your right, the people that lose their jobs don't win. However, as a whole we do. Unfortuantly, for society to win, some people have to lose.

Also, is it better to outsource production, and keep half the jobs, or go bankrupt and lose everything? With the race to the bottom...alot of companies face this choice. Yes, the poor people that get laid off still suffer.
