...about my playthrough of the Dragon Age 2 Demo.
For the first time, I'm in two minds about the gender I want to play in the full edition. Because, at the one hand side, male!generic!Hawke is such an eye candy. At least in the videos. And on the other hand, Bioware games are so much more fun when playing with a female character. For the demo, I settled on the male mage.
What I liked about the game was the new character developement system, where new spells or skills are arranged in some sort of graph (no, not a tree). That way, the developers were able to create dependencies among the spells and skills.
Of course, the atmosphere they were able to create within the short demo wasn't as tense as we're used to. But for the moment, I'm inclined to write that off to the demo. What bothers me more are the user's stats on the main screen. Don't know how else to name it. But the party's member's pictures in the upper left corner of the screen that were done so nicely in DA:O now look like... crap? Like the one Blizzard had in their Diabolo (1)? C'mon, really, it this the century of the fruibait 21st century? Or isn't it? Those portraits with their health and stamina/mana bars pieced together as made by a 10-year old child are such a downgrade from what we've seen in DA:O, it almost makes me weep.
And while I'm on it - how on earth can Isabella walk? With those body measures, wouldn't she be prone to falling over all the time? She sureley must have had some... improvements installed since we last saw her. Which holds true for Flemeth as well. Her new hairdo...
Ah, whatever. I'm sure I'll squee like a kid when I finally hold the game in my hands.
Besides those flaws, the demo was nice enough. Admittedly, I died twice against that blasted Ogre (or whatever it was. But I think it was an Ogre.), but the rest was fine. Although, I've never before seen a mage fight like that.
Unfortunately, I can't elaborate more cause my cat's demanding her laser point at the top of her voice.
