Journal Entry #6

There has been quite a bit of hype surrounding the new Nintendo Wii gaming system. Some say that the Wii's ability to "democratize" gaming for people of all ages and abilities is revolutionary. Do you think this is a true technological revolution or just hype? Please defend your opinion.

Being months after Wii was released I think it's just a hype. Right now no one really talks about Wii anymore. I must say it was a total hype because people were so into having a Wii, and wanted to play it so much it lost its appeal. Wii has become overrated and played out that no there is no hype on it anymore. At first I thought it was a technological revolution, being able to play a video game and controlling it without a remote control was pretty amazing. Doing actual actions to win a game was quite an exercise but that's pretty much it.

The thing with the Wii is that people want it because they think it's a technological revolution because of what you can do with it. Truth is, they only want it because they think it's cool because of it's expense. Their mentality is that because it's expensive it might be something really cool.
