Summary: Yoochun has always been close-minded and selfish until he received a sermon from his best friend. He met a little boy and decided to listen to his best friend's advice for a change. Who knew what things has in store for him after encountering the little boy's father.
"Ahjussi!"
Yoochun looked up from his entwined hands and glanced at the little boy who took a seat beside him on the wooden bench and glanced around, a hint of surprise was evident in his eyes.
"Yes?" He asked with piqued curiosity.
"Why are you alone ahjussi?" The little boy asked innocently.
Yoochun frowned, feeling uncertain on how to respond. He had not intended to end up at the children's park at the first place, since he has absolute no interest toward children. But he has been disoriented earlier; words from his best friend's has been bothering him and made him wander aimlessly while he was deep in thoughts and just sat down immediately when he saw a bench. He didn't know where he was until the little boy called his attention.
"I...came here alone," was the only respond he could come up with.
The little boy frowned and tilted his head, "I don't like it when I see someone lonely...I hate feeling lonely too ahjussi. Can I stay with you first until you have someone with you ahjussi?" The little boy perked at his own idea.
Yoochun couldn't decide if the boy was persistent or just naturally cute in his own way.
'You shun people away and how are you going to be happy if you are not going to settle down? You hate the idea of having a commitment but Yoochun...I can't always be the one to be there for you if you need something...'
"Ahjussi?"
Yoochun broke his reverie and turned back to the boy who was waiting for him patiently.
"Yeah I guess you can stay with me for awhile...but do you think that is a good idea? Weren't you taught not to talk to strangers? What if I am a bad guy?"
The little boy shook his head frantically, "you don't look like a bad guy ahjussi! You look too nice and handsome to look like a bad guy!"
Yoochun chuckled, "thank you for your compliments but next time be careful or else you might not be lucky. My name is Yoochun, what is yours?" And he couldn't believe that he has managed to have a civil conversation with a kid. In his mind, he thought children below ten are illiterate and way too immature for his likings. Most children he has seen were too spoiled and always threw tantrums.
'Not all kids are like that. You just unfortunately met those but really Yoochun, don't close your mind and see them all alike. My nieces are sweet and my nephews are well mannered. Just because you don't like kids, doesn't mean that you should mistreat them. Give it a chance when you meet one...'
"My name is Inhwan and I'm six years old! Now we are no longer strangers!" He gave Yoochun a toothy grin.
Yoochun decided to listen to his best friend and give the little boy a chance instead of shoving him away.
"Speaking of which, why are you all by yourself?" Yoochun questioned. He glanced around the playground and noticed that most children are accompanied by their parents or guardians.
Inhwan bit on his lower lip and looked like he was going to tear up. "I got lost...but I know my daddy will be able to find me here!"
"You got lost? How on earth did you get lost? Do you know where your house is?" Yoochun asked worriedly.
'It doesn't hurt to care. You have always been insensitive towards other and I have been the only one who can tolerate your selfishness...can't you open your heart to care for others, even if it is just out of concern?'
Inhwan looked down with a tint of pink forming on his cheeks as what it seemed from embarrassment. "I saw puppies...they were so cute! And then I don't know where my dad went; I know it's my fault. But I'll be okay because I know my dad will find me here!" Inhwan assured. Yoochun wondered how a kid like him could be so smart and brave.
"How about your mom?" Yoochun asked.
Inhwan shook his head, "no mommy. I don't like my mommy because she's a bad person," he said with much distaste.
Yoochun frowned, "why do you say that?"
"Mommy left me and my daddy, she's a selfish mommy who doesn't care about us and plus my dad is happier with just the two of us...but..." He stopped talking and pouted while he fiddled his small fingers.
"But what?"
"Sometimes I think my daddy is lonely," Inhwan said sadly and suddenly perked up. "Ahjussi! Are you alone? Do you have a girlfriend or a wife?" He asked excitedly.
Yoochun laughed at the random question, he shook his head and anticipated what the boy would ask next.
"Oh that's great!" He yelped happily and suddenly his name was being called from afar.
"Inhwan!"
"See! I told you my daddy would find me here!" Inhwan's grin was so contagious that Yoochun could not help but smile at the little boy's cheerfulness.
"That's good then but I hope he wouldn't think that I am a bad stranger," Yoochun said.
Inhwan shook his head and hopped off the bench, instantly pulling Yoochun's hand with him.
"Daddy! Daddy! You found me!" Inhwan grinned happily as he dragged Yoochun with him as his dad instantly jogged towards them.
Yoochun took a good look at the boy's father. Rosy plumb pouty lips, teardrop eyes, cute nose, light brown hair and his body was physically fit enough.
'Damn, I've gone gay,' Yoochun thought.
"Daddy!" Inhwan let go of Yoochun's hand and ran towards his father, who bent lowly to pick Inhwan up and embraced him. Yoochun didn't miss the firm round behinds.
"Now what did you do this time?" His father scolded him slightly as he put Inhwan down on the ground.
"I saw cute puppies daddy...I'm sorry," Inhwan pouted.
"Again," his father chuckled and patted his head, "at least I've found you."
And that's when their eyes met each other for the first time. It felt like an eternity with comfortable silence and they were radiating sparks of admiration for one another. None of them made a move at all until Inhwan spoke.
"Daddy! This is Yoochun ahjussi! He's not a bad guy and I stayed with him while I waited for you. I didn't like him looking so lonely just like you. Maybe you can be together with each other and won't be alone anymore! What do you think daddy?" Inhwan asked excitedly.
"In-Inhwan!" His father was flustered, darting his eyes away from Yoochun.
'If by chance you stumble upon someone who is different and is able to capture you at the first moment, grab the chance and go for it. Try it for a change...maybe you might find greater happiness with that person. Be open minded Yoochun, I just wanted you to be happy.'
"I...don't mind, if you don't mind at all..." Yoochun surprised himself when those words came out from his own lips.
Inhwan's father looked at him with surprise but in a good way. A small smile formed on his lips and he held out his hand, "I don't think I won't mind at all," his smile grew bigger, "I'm Junsu."
"Yay! Daddy is not going to be lonely anymore!" Inhwan jumped up and down with great happiness.
Yoochun chuckled as he glanced down at Inhwan, "I'm so glad you found me Inhwan," and winked at Junsu when he glanced at him.
Junsu blushed and eyed their hands, which Yoochun has yet to release.
"Can I take you both out today? Oh wait, I need to call Jaejoong-he's my best friend, and tell him I met you," Yoochun didn't let go of Junsu's hand while he fished for his mobile phone with his free hand and pressed the speed dial.
"Jae! You're right! I met a hot guy and his name is Junsu and he got a kid but he's adorable!" Yoochun gushed over the phone while he kept his eyes on Junsu, who has yet to stop blushing.
Then Junsu felt his other hand being tugged by Inhwan and he bent a bit to meet his son's height.
"Did I do a good job daddy?" Inhwan whispered softly.
Junsu let out a hearty laugh and pinched his son's bubbly cheeks, "yes you did kiddo," and glanced back at Yoochun, who was done with his phone call and was smiling at him.
"Shall we go and have our date then?"
'I think I've found the perfect one.'
