Summary: It all began with cookies.
It was past noon when a man came out of a store with a newspaper, a cup of hot coffee and a packet of cookies in one hand and a thick manuscript on the other. Junsu glanced around the park and found a vacant table near the store. He made his way and sat down, placing the newspaper, coffee and a packet of cookies on the table while his eyes scanned and reviewed the manuscript.
It was a chilly winter day but to Junsu, the cold was not bad. He opted to stay outside for fresh air rather than linger inside the store where it was crowded. He took a sip of his hot coffee while he read lines after lines. And just a few minutes later his privacy has been invaded.
Another man had taken a seat across Junsu on the table. Junsu raised his brows with confusion and at the same time, with amusement at the man. The newcomer made no move but only stared at Junsu. Junsu could only stare back at him, his manuscript long forgotten.
The newcomer was handsome, dressed neatly in a black thick coat and wore a beanie over his head. Then he eyed the packet of cookies on the table. Junsu followed his eyes and gasped when the newcomer picked up the packet and tore it open. He took out a cookie, put down the packet on the table and chewed on the cookie.
Junsu made no protest. He just watched the man eat the cookie and he was not in the mood to make a fight. He shrugged it off and leaned forward, getting a cookie from the packet and started chewing on it while he casted his attention back on the manuscript. He only has a few hours left before he is needed at work and he needed to read all the contents. Junsu thought the man would leave him alone after stealing a cookie but from the corner of his eyes, Junsu saw him getting another cookie from the packet after he finished the first cookie.
Junsu rolled his eyes. He ate silently while he read and occasionally took sips of his coffee and the man just sat across him, chewing the cookie in a slow pace. Junsu got another cookie, and then the man got another. They ate silently with constant eye contacts at each other and would only move to get another cookie until there was only one cookie left.
Junsu groaned inwardly, feeling disappointed that there was one left and tried to remember who had gotten more. They had alternately got one cookie each and there were supposed to be ten cookies. But why is there only one left? Was it miscounted?
Junsu wanted the last cookie but the man took the last piece. Junsu still made no protest and just pouted. The man smiled at him and broke the cookie into two and gave him the other half. Junsu was puzzled then he realized the man’s intention. Junsu accepted it and the man quickly ate his own half then stood up from his seat. Junsu just stared at him. The man gave him a small smile before turning his back to Junsu and left. Just like that, with no words exchanged at all.
‘What the heck just happened?’ Junsu wondered as the man disappeared from his sight.
‘Will I see him again?’ He won’t lie that he was not attracted and he was very intrigued by the stranger’s mysterious behavior. Junsu sighed as he glanced at his wristwatch. It was time for him to head to his work place at broadcasting station, where he works as a radio talk host.
Few days later, Junsu returned to the park, with a cup of hot coffee and a packet of cookies in hand. He sat on the same table near the store. He glanced around the park; there were a few couples strolling and kids playing around on the snow with their pets. Junsu took a sip of his hot coffee while he watched and he was unaware of someone’s presence few feet away from him.
Before Junsu could open his packet of cookies, he felt someone approaching. He turned his head to the side and was greeted by the same face that left a huge impression on him for the past few days. He was glad to see the stranger again.
Junsu watched him come closer until the stranger was standing right across his seat. Junsu tilted his head, wondering what he would do next. Would he do the same thing he did before? Would he sit down without asking for an invitation and steal more of his cookies again?
But he didn’t. Instead he held something out in his hand and Junsu was surprised.
“This is for…you,” the stranger said, holding out a box with a transparent cover on top. Junsu slowly accepted it with both of his hands and glanced through the transparent cover, the box was filled with cookies.
“I…uhm…Thank you,” Junsu said, flabbergasted.
“I apologized for eating your cookies before,” the stranger said shyly with his head down. He seemed different from the first time when Junsu met him.
Junsu only shook his head, “it’s okay but…I have been curious. Why?” he asked.
The stranger blushed but made no attempt to hide them, “I always noticed you here before. You would always buy coffee and cookies from the store and I have been…wondering why you like the cookies so much. You always looked contented when you ate them and I wondered if they were as good as they seemed,” he explained.
Junsu chuckled softly and pursed his lips together. “And what was your conclusion after that?”
“It was…good. I think cookies taste better if you are eating it with someone, especially with…someone you like,” the stranger confessed while blushing.
Junsu smiled, “thank you.”
The stranger shook his head, “anyways enjoy the cookies, I don’t want to bother you any longer,” he said, hesitantly before he turned around to leave.
“Wait,” Junsu stopped him and the stranger looked back at him with a confused expression.
“Would you like to join me?” Junsu asked
“Huh?”
“You said that cookies taste better if you eat it with someone you like, right?” Junsu said.
The stranger nodded his head.
“Then would you like to eat cookies with me? I’ll be glad to share these with you,” Junsu asked, with an inviting smile on his face.
The stranger gaped when he understood Junsu’s hidden meaning from the invitation. He started blushing more furiously and pursed his lips together to suppress his happiness.
“I’m Junsu, Kim Junsu.”
“Yoochun, Park Yoochun,” the stranger smiled and Junsu smiled back at him.
And they shared and ate Yoochun’s freshly baked cookies while the packet of cookies was all forgotten. And Junsu had to admit that Yoochun was right, cookies taste better if you eat it with someone you like.

I baked 220 pieces of chocolate oatmeal cookies for the holiday and I read a short article about a man who ate someone else's cookies because he thought it was his own packet of cookies. I felt like writing about cookies because cookies are yummy. While as I got bored eating cookies by myself earlier today, my boyfriend showed up and surprised me with gifts. I gave him some of my cookies and he ate them heartily. That just made me happy and I made sure he brought some cookies home with him.
Yoosu cookies anyone?
Hope you enjoyed reading it!
Thank you so much for reading!
Happy Holidays everyone!
